A Night to India

First of all, my apologies to all of you for not updating my blog often nowadays! And also thank you to my blog's spammer, Hammer, for covering up things for me. It's really kind of you, Hammer, though you're a spammer. =)

OK, back to the real topic. Honestly, I had never attended an Indian event before I came here. Trust me.. We don't have this often in Sarawak. But, it is a good experience to attend such a fun KTT Ponggal Charity Night. The Indian Cultural Society in my college had worked hard day and night to organise the Ponggal Charity Night.

Very nice, detailed deco =)

I was quite lazy to go actually but, after seeing everybody to excited about it, I decided to just go. And it was the right decision. I even got to borrow my neighbour's Punjabi dress!

Before we leave...

Walking excitedly to the bus! Btw, we're one of the early birds there..

We had loads of fun taking pictures, talking, eating nice food and cheering for the performers. And I must really admit that most of us felt like as if we're in India. Don't you think so? Lol!

Yummylicious food!

Pls click to view the pictures in a larger form. Sorry coz' too many pics! ;)

The performances were very good. Though there's a little too many of dance performances, I did enjoy all of them. Btw, 2 lucky girls sitting with me each won a lucky draw prize except me! =( I was actually hoping I could win one but.. Lol!

Blasting performances!

The night ended with an open floor dance. I didn't really dance coz they didn't off the lights and I wasn't into the mood. I just shake a bit with my friends then, got of the stage and went back. ;) The whole event was indeed fun!

Me love this pic!

Well, I must really admit that KTT is one of the best college to prepare students to India coz' ya' know.. Ponggal Night, water crisis issues.. What's next then?

KTT CNY Celebration

KTT CNY was a blast! I really enjoyed it and yes, I think it's my most favourite KTT event so far. I was one of the members in the Publicity committee and was invovled in choir performance. Well, I didn't do much though compare to my friends who were involved in so many performances. They were all awesomely talented!

Team Publicity! Member missing: Kok

I was kinda disappointed at first coz' I didn't have any red tops! I did have 2 CNY dresses but they weren't the 'haemoglobin' red that my choir leader wanted. So, I had a problem getting one. But, thank God Maddy, my neighbour staying 1 floor down, was willing to lend me her red top. So, I was very relieved about it.

Loads of us wearing the 'fa chai' colour!

Man See-nizer and me!

CLian, Me, Hui Zhi and Man See

So, moving on about our KTT CNY, we had Lion Dance performance to start off the event. Then, we had our college's Director to officiate the event by writing the word 牛 and performed the 'lao sheng'. Then, there's where the real fun began! We had fan dance, modern salsa dance, band performance, sketch, solo performances and choir. Superbly awesome!

Fan dance led by Jene =)

Jun Mei's super nice solo performance...

One of KTT's great singers, Ah Xia!

Nora playing 'pipa'...

Superb band performance! Didn't know there are loads of musically talented scholars here...

Sketch about Beautiful Banana...

Our choir team!

We even had an open floor dance after the adults left. Well.. I didn't really dance. I was just mingling around with my friends. Plus, I was wearing wedges so, couldn't jump up and down. Haha! But, we really enjoyed ourselves. It was really a great event and really hope we can have this again when we go India. ;)

Foot loose!

We just gotta take a pic with the Lion coz' there wouldn't be one there =(

Celebrating Chap Goh Mei

I just realised Chinese in West Malaysia don't really have reunion dinner on Chap Goh Mei. But, they do throw mandarin oranges to the lake/sea which, most of us from Sarawak don't do so. Since I can't celebrate it with my family this year, my friends and I decided to go out for a different kind of reunion dinner! There were 8 of us, 6 Sarawakians, 2 West Malaysians.

Me, Sarah, Catherine, CL, Sue Ting, Agnes, Kok and Vanessa

We wanted to eat Chinese food but, couldn't find a Chinese restaurant. So, we ended up eating at RasaMas. Food there was quite satsifying. But, the chicken wasn't hot enough and the coleslaw wasn't cold enough. Others were quite OK.

Ordering RasaMas!

At Secret Recipes with RasaMas balloons =)

After dinner, we went to Secret Recipes for some cake. I ordered this fabulous Trans-Fat Free Peach Cream Cake! Haha... Just curious about the trans-fat free issue! =)

Yum~

Well, it's bad to celebrate Chap Goh Mei here at all. But, there's just one thing that we miss; Chinese food!!!

After CNY Holidays...

I had never felt so homesick before since studying here in KL. Honestly, this is my very few times feeling depressed for quite a long time. OK... Maybe not that long but, for a few days. (You know me.. I'm quite a happy-go-lucky person so, won't feel that depressed easily lar~) I cried whenever I thought of home. The more I thought of how long I have to be here, the more I cry. However, I realised that I shouldn't be like this and to see this as something God has planned for me. This is what He wants me to face and I must have faith in Him. I must really thank Chelle too. When I didn't know who to talk to, suddenly, I saw her online and just went to message her. And she really told me a lot of things. I really appreciate it, Chelle. Thanks!

Enough about all these depressing things... Now, I'm going to share about the NCMC Amazing Race! Since coming to KTT, I had to make a choice of which church to go to. After trying all the churches, I decided to go to Nilai Chinese Methodist Church. I really like the church, the pastors and people there. Although it's a Chinese-English service, I find that I could understand what the pastors are talking about. I really feel comfortable there.

Recently, I joined the Amazing Race organised by the youths. I was quite excited as I really like Amazing Race and also wanted to get to know the youths there. The activity was organised in Nilai INTI. INTI is super big! I really like the place.. Why can't I study there? =( Our 1st task was to make CNY cards. It was quite interesting as I am a noob when it comes to art. We had an animal to represent ourselves. I chose horse! (Ke-de-kut ke-de-kut.. Haha!) After that, we had to find one of the people in-charged for the some oranges. We actually got our first task wrong but, quickly recovered and continued to run the race. After tracking down the people in-charged of the clues, we had to find 10 people to give the oranges to and take pictures with them. It was quite an easy task as there are a lot of passer-bys.

Me and my team!

Later, we had a short break before continueing the race. The next task was to match the pictures. We had to find where the pictures given were taken. This task was really difficult for the KTT-ians as we were not familiar with the place. But, we managed to track 7 of the 10 pictures. Next, we had to find a hidden clue and proceed to the van to go to Uncle and Auntie's house. It was very tiring to run but, it was a good exercise for us. =)

At Uncle and Auntie's house =)

When we were at Uncle and Auntie's house, we had a lot of food. It was really a good fellowship. We got to hear stories from Uncle about how he knew his wife and so on. Their kids are very cute too. They really made me miss Zi Xin and Yan Zi a lot. After visiting them, we proceeded to one of the church member's house for BBQ! I had loads of fun talking and getting to know new friends.

BBQ-ing...

CL, Adrenaline, Auntie HF, Agnes and Me!

After 1 whole day of Amazing Race, we finally reached KTT at around 10pm something. Btw, did I mention about my severely-attacked-by-mosquitoes legs? I think I better wear long pants for BBQ next time -_-||

Chinese New Year 2009

I love CNY! I love the fellowships with family, relatives and friends. It just feels so nice to spend time with them!

CNY eve was really fun! The food was great and after dinner, the kids played Monopoly: World Edition while some of us played our homemade Taboo. After a few easy rounds, Koko sponsored to buy the real Taboo. So, NingJie drove us to Parkson to get it. I must really admit that the real Taboo is real difficult. But, we had a great fun playing it. Mimi was so cute trying to get her team to guess the word 'gum'.

Delicious food!!!

My Taboo team and I =)

We had open house on the 1st day. We had some friends over to our house for some nice mee sua and other food cooked by Mummy's colleague. It was quite a tiring day but, I really enjoyed it! I met some friends and juniors whom I haven't seen for quite a long time. It was really good to see them again.

Mimi, Abel, Lynna, Ah Ning, Me and ErJie.

Yummy food on 1st day of CNY!

Edric, Chiat and Edric's friend, whom I heard is a piano genius from Subang.

2nd and 3rd day were the usual visiting days. 4th day, I went out visiting with my besties. We visited quite a lot of houses. The weather was very wet but, it didn't wash away our CNY visiting spirit! By the end of the day, I was actually bloated and was super exhausted. Ate too much I guess.. Haha!

ErJie, Lynna, Ning Jie and I at YiPoh's house on 3rd day of CNY!

Samreet! I kinda like his new hairstyle..

Mandy and me =) Spot QiYing behind us? Haha!

I'm Back!!!

Hey hey! I'm back from the no-internet college. Just finished my mid-sem exams. It was quite OK. Not as bad as the 1st mid-sem I had last year. And my Physics lecturer even managed to finish marking my paper before the last day of exams. Phew~ So, here's the updates about what had happened lately:

1. Bought a new phone! I went to meet Daddy and ErJie Friday, the weekend before my exams. Went shopping with them and Daddy bought a Nokia E71 for me! Super excited about it coz' I didn't expect to get it so soon. I thought we were just looking around but, Daddy was very sporting and decided to get it for me. Wee~

Daddy bought me the grey steel one :)

2. I joined the KTT's Chinese New Year celebration as one of the team members for the choir. That means... I will be singing Chinese songs! Haha... I guess I'll be one of the very few Chinese who needs to refer to the pinyin lyrics. ;) So, I guess I gotta practise hard during this break.

3. I had exams for 4 days last week. The exams are quite OK. I think Maths has the hardest questions. Mechanics is very interesting but, tricky! Pure Maths 1 is as usual but, I think I seriously need to do loads of exercises! However, I didn't feel that stressed like last year and I even had one full day off on the Friday before exams to spend time with Daddy and ErJie. Haha~

An example of Maths exercise that I usually do.. Btw, I got this picture from here. Remember?

4. The AS and A2 results are out! There are quite a lot of my friends who got good results. So, I would like to congratulate all my seniors and friends on getting good results! Really happy for them. God is really wonderful! Continue to work hard and have faith in Him.

So, that's basically what happened during these few weeks! I can't wait for CNY and really excited to meet everyone!
Happy Chinese 牛 Year 2009!

Celebrating New Year with fever, headache and diarrhea!

As the title says... I'm sick! =( But, don't worry guys, I'm feeling better now. Will try to blog about my Sarikei trip and New Year celebration if got time.

Btw, how did I get sick?

I stayed up till 12 midnight to watch the Taipei 101's fireworks and danced a little with my cousin. Then, went to sleep before 1am. I woke up at around 8am and followed my cousins to KB, Brunei. While shopping, I started to feel a little cold and feverish. Headache started to invade my brain and I had to bear with it the whole day. Not forgetting Excapade, one of my favourite Jap restaurants, I love the food but, my fever worsened and I couldn't stop shivering. Thank God for the green tea that kept me a little warm. After spending almost the whole day there, I came back and sticked cool fever pad onto my head and went to bed early. The next day, I found myself having bad stomachaches and had to go to the toilet often! Argh.. Diarrhea! So, today, my dad brought my to MCMC and had the young, not-that-friendly doctor to prescribe me some medicine.

So, that's basically how I got sick and now, in the state of recovering. Please pray for my health as I'm going to sit for my mid-sem exams soon. Speaking of exams, I didn't manage to revise well while I'm back in Miri! =( This means that I will have to double-work when I get back to college. I have faith in Him!

Lazing Around...

Home sweet home! I really love staying at home, lazing around, watching TV and playing DS. I will definitely miss home again when I fly to KL. :(

Btw, Happy Raya 2008! Went visiting with family and friends on the first day of Raya. One of the things I love about Raya is the food! Too bad I didn't take any pictures of them or else, you guys will be drooling over the pictures! I went to Ieqa's house first then to Iqbal's. Had lots of fun coz' got to meet friends and juniors. And this is making me miss secondary school life!

Besides Raya visitings, I went out with friends for a few times. On Sunday, we went to Double Star and Coffee Bean. On Tuesday, we went to hang out at Bintang Plaza and watched a very ridiculous movie, La Lingerie. Then, yesterday, Thursday, I met up with Michele, my YE friend from Labuan at Taiwan. It's been 2 years since we met! Really glad to meet her again and yes, we couldn't stop talking about Japan. This is making me miss Japan so much...

So, these were roughly what I did for the past few days. Lynna is very sick now. She's having a very bad fever + headache + soarthroat + flu. Yes, really bad. Really pray that she'll get well soon.

KTT Mooncake Festival

It's been a long time since the last time I walked around the residential area carrying a lantern. I really miss those good old time. So, during the Mooncake Festival, the KTT's student council organised an Mooncake activity.

We carried lanterns uphill. It was quite boring when we walked up the hill because it was such a long way and we didn't really do anything. But, when we reached the top, people started to take loads of pictures. Some even played with the mini fireworks. While taking pictures with Felicia, I accidentally burned my lantern! :( But, I didn't really mind because it was quite 'ma fan' to carry the lantern around sometimes. Btw, we even had yummylicious mooncakes!

My lantern!

Mini fireworks...

Some of us crazing around...

ALL 9!!!

Joanna and me :)

Us girls at the gate after reaching college

After taking loads of pictures, we started to walk down the hill. While walking down, the girls started to sing songs which I really enjoyed. Honestly, I really had a great Mooncake Festival this year. Really looking forward for next year!

Celebrating the Year of Rat!

Chinese New Year! Chinese New year! Xing Nian Dao! It's the time that I can really have fun and eat! Haha.. But, atmosphere weren't that fun this year as most of the cousins are not in Miri. Plus, both of my sisters were not back for CNY..
My family and I didn't visit a lot this year. Maybe it's because Dajie and ErJie were not here. But, we did open house on the 1st day inviting my parents' colleagues, Lynna and my friends over. It was really fun meeting all of them. Well, of course, it was really tiring and mentally exhausting but I did love the atmosphere and the fellowship. Alright.. I'll just stop blabling and let the pictures explain the rest:

On the 1st day.. (I grabbed the pic from Lynna so, she's the one who edited the pic! Haha..)

On the 2nd day at Yi Poh's house..

Showing off our ang paus!

At another relatives house..

Us cousins!

With Sing Ping at her house..
